What is White Balance?

Every light source gives off a different temperature, measured in Kelvin. The white balance is a camera setting that gives you correct colour in your image. The camera's ability to correct color cast or tint under different lighting conditions including daylight, indoor, fluorescent lighting, and electronic flash.

Also known as "WB," many cameras offer an Auto WB mode that is usually but not always quite accurate. There are usually settings for daylight, shade, cloudy, fluorescent, tungsten and flash.
